Yes, Portreath Harbour Association is open to all, young and old, with or without a boat, to apply simply fill in the form on the "Join PHA" link and send to the treasurer along with your membership fee of £10, payable annually. You must be a member before you can apply for a mooring.
Yes, however you must either be a member of PHA or pay a fee of £30 to use the slip, either way a deposit of £5 will be required for a key to unlock the gate, this deposit will be refunded when the key is returned.
The launching of jet ski's is prohibited.
Yes, a minimum of third party insurance is required before your boat enters the water either for a mooring or via the slip. If you choose to keep your boat at the harbour hardstanding through the winter, insurance will still be required.
PHA recommends as a minimum the following:
Fully functional anchor
Distress flares
Tool kit
Life jackets
Bailer or pump
VHF radio, please ensure you have a license and know how to operate your radio!
Mobile phone
Knife
Reserve fuel
Remember to also check the weather forecast and tide times before setting off, this can often avert any potential emergency.
Portreath harbour dries out at each low tide, depending on the mooring position you will have approx 2 to 3 hours either side of a high tide to enjoy the water and fishing.
Parking around the harbour is restricted to harbour users only that have boats moored within the harbour. Vehicle clamping is in operation and any vehicles that are not displaying a valid permit will be clamped.
